Next month, 1,000 residents will gather in the middle of Main Street and sit down at one long table for dinner together.

Hosted by community-building initiative Pleasanton Connects, Pleasanton Downtown Association and Workday Foundation, the sold-out June 6 event, called the Longest Table, seeks to bring neighbors together to make new friends and strengthen the city’s social fabric.

“(Pleasanton Connects) is getting ready to launch their community action plan, which will be implemented over the next year,” said Taranom Kazempour, Workday Foundation representative. “We wanted to create an opportunity for Pleasanton residents to come together in a fun and joyful way, and it also gives us the opportunity to share that action plan with the community to get their feedback and show them how they can get involved.”

Pleasanton Connects began last fall as a partnership between Workday Foundation, the City of Pleasanton and TogetherUp Institute to build a civic hub within the city.
